Perfumes allow us to live many lives through their components, travel to different feelings and sensations, and leave behind a spectacular effect. It is exciting to get to know this world closely. Today we accompany you in an interesting blog about perfumes and their secrets!

Like everything, perfumes have families that facilitate the classification of the main character of their scent. The concept of; fragrance families appeared in the early nineties to make it easier for us to know the components, the main fragrance, and the families' connection to each other, and they are classified into essential and sub-bases.

As a result of the continuation of aromatic discoveries, we have the fragrance wheel, which developed over centuries. The fragrance wheel consists of an olfactory chart created by Michael Edwards in 1992. The wheel explains the relationship between olfactory groups to help evolve new perfumes and compounds.

Fragrance families consist of 8 large significant families, including various secondary families. Fragrance families are fixed and maintain their number, in contrast to the gradual and continuously renewable category.

1- Woody fragrance family

Woods are characterized by warmth, the same feeling left behind by perfumes from this family. The woody fragrances family is distinguished by their warmth and strength, and the scent of wood appears in the dry phase of the perfume. The luxury of fragrance and the richness of feeling characterize this family. It has a sophisticated and calm character and blends well with aromatic herbs and citrus scents.

Among the most prominent woody scents are sandalwood, patchouli, cedar, and vetiver.

You must have perfume from this family every once in a while; To feel warm and intimate!

2- Leather fragrance family

Discovering a manufactured family of "leather perfumes," a sharp and robust scent with spectacular emission. Most of the leather family perfumes are classified as men's perfumes and are known for their strength, high intensity, and pungent smell. Leather perfumes take time to be desirable and delicate scents due to the time of their manufacture. Leather perfumes are strongly associated with the smell of smoke or tobacco, which goes well with oriental and woody notes. One with leather perfumes may feel sentiments of strength and impulsiveness, as they are strong perfumes with an impulsive character!

3- Chypre fragrance family

The name of this family is derived from the word Cyprus and the perfume created by Francois Coty. This group combines citrus scents with fruits, flowers, and aromatic herbs. Oakmoss dominates this group، as the fragrances of this group are characterized by their refreshment and their presentation of a renewed feeling and fresh scents that travel with you to the various fragrant notes.

4- Floral fragrance family

The floral family generally relies on flowers' scent, especially at the forefront and heart of the fragrance. Perfumes from the floral family present blossoming feelings and a sense of freshness in line with fruity and citrus scents as it consists mainly of virgin flowers blooming in the first harvest seasons, which create a rebirth in the shade of beauty, freshness, and sweetness.

5- Citrus fragrance family

The citrus fragrance family is one of the oldest aromatic fragrances, the same as flora. It is characterized by the dominance of citrus scents such as lemon, bergamot, grapefruit, and mandarin orange, where its overriding ingredient is the scent of perfume. Citrus family fragrances give a feeling of freshness mixed with strength and clarity! You must add one to your collection to feel yourself in a field full of lemon trees in a seaside town!

6- Aroma fragrance family

This family is characterized by freshness and strength, as it is dominated by herbal scents such as sage and rosemary with watery and citrus notes and perhaps some spices! Because of their sharpness and masculinity, they give many men's fragrances that fall under this family!

7-Oriental fragrance family

To the East and its distinct scents and their contrasts, we move on to the family of oriental perfumes, which vary with aromatic woods, incense, and intense scents such as vanilla, oud, and musk. This family is characterized by the dominance of amber mixed with a unique composition of flowers and woods. In this family, you inevitably travel with your sense to different countries and their pleasing aromas. You have to get one to leave your signature with your distinguished perfume!

8- Fougère family

Firstly, we can classify fougères as a principle or movement more than an aromatic family, as they are bold, sharp fragrances, volatile between sweet and intense. They are men's perfumes on a woody background, on which the sweet and intelligent scent dances. The word fougère means fern, like lavender, and notes like rosemary and oakmoss stand out in these fragrances. This family owes its name to the Royal Fougère perfume, designed by Houbjean in 1882.

Fragrance families help you know the matching pairs in perfumes, their ability to form unique scents and extensions, and how their aromatic branches harmonize.
